Ferrier Stillman has been named one of Maryland's Top 100 Women in 2011. The award recognizes one hundred of Maryland's leading women who are making an impact through their outstanding professional, civic, and mentoring achievements. Ferrier will be honored at an awards reception on May 9, 2011.
As this is the third time Ferrier has been selected, she has been inducted into the Top 100 Women "Circle of Excellence." Maryland's Top 100 Women was created to recognize outstanding achievement by women as demonstrated through professional accomplishment, community leadership, and mentoring. The Circle of Excellence is awarded for sustained achievement.
Ferrier’s practice centers on family law and health care law. In her health care practice, she regularly represents clients before both courts and government agencies. She was instrumental in spearheading the first reform of the Maryland regulations on assisted living facilities, which became the blueprint for the new assisted living legislation. At the request of Governor Glendening, she served as the chief lobbyist for the bill, which passed.
She occupies various leadership roles within the community. She serves on the Custody Subcommittee of the Maryland Judicial Conference and she has been appointed a Volunteer Mediator for family law cases in the Family Division of the Baltimore City Circuit Court. Through her involvement in a variety of non-profit organizations, Ferrier advocates for health care, long-term care, and senior housing providers. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Centers for Healthy Maryland (a part of Med-Chi). She serves LifeSpan Network, Inc. as a member of its Legislative and Regulatory Policy Committee, as well as the Health Facilities Association of Maryland as a member of its Health Planning and Regulatory Committee. By appointment of the Office of the Mayor, she served on the Governing Board of Baltimore’s Head Start program from 2010-2011.
